The Weblog Handbook by Rebecca Blood (2002)

"Chapter 6: Weblog Community and Etiquette
Things to Avoid ... Weblog Etiquette ... Weblog Ethics ... Gaining Credibility ... Using Your Powers for Good
Chapter 7: Living Online
Creating a Schedule ... Online Reputation...Again ... Maintaining Your Privacy ... Protecting the Privacy of Others ... Protecting Children ... Webcams and Photos ... Online Privacy in General ... Fighting Spam ... Taking a Break"

A partilha de informação...

... esteve na origem do desenvolvimento da internet - Internet Society (ISOC) All About The Internet: History of the Internet: "A key to the rapid growth of the Internet has been the free and open access to the basic documents, especially the specifications of the protocols. The beginnings of the ARPANET and the Internet in the university research community promoted the academic tradition of open publication of ideas and results."

FP6 - Building the research infrastructure

ISTweb - First IST call in FP6: "FP6 also supports the provision of computer and communications infrastructures of the highest quality and performance to Europe's researchers. Projects in the first Call for such research infrastructures will pave the way towards the pioneering deployment of pan-European Grid-empowered e-Infrastructures. They will provide a new impetus to the establishment of virtual communities of researchers in various fields of research. Selected projects will build the largest international Grid infrastructure with the combined capacity of over 20.000 CPU's federating 70 institutions in 20 countries as well as by deploying an European distributed terascale supercomputing facility."

World Telecommunication Development Report 2003: Access Indicators for the Information Society

World Telecommunication Development Report 2003: Access Indicators for the Information Society:

"The 2003 World Telecommunication Development Report is a tool kit for measuring access to information and communication technologies (ICTs) and a synopsis of the current state of readiness worldwide for the information society. The need to rethink traditional indicators arises from today's emphasis on how the development of the information society is changing lifestyles, especially in how we communicate, work and play. Wider access to new technologies, especially the Internet, is crucial to overcoming the digital divide. It is determined not only by infrastructure but also by people's ability to afford and to use ICTs. The report evaluates indicators and statistical methodologies according to their ability to measure access to the information society, to understand national and global developments and to help make the right policy decisions."
Fica também o relatório anterior (para quem não o «apanhou») ITU Internet Reports 2003: Birth of Broadband:
"As one of the "hot topics" of the telecommunication industry in 2003, broadband is expected to be one of the highlights of this year’s show. This new report examines the emergence of high-speed, dedicated Internet connections that will greatly expand the world’s access to information. Broadband will also facilitate the long-expected convergence of three previously distinct technologies: computing, communications and broadcasting."

World Summit on the Information Society - Intervenção de José Luís Arnaut

World Summit on the Information Society : Newsroom: "JOSE LUIS ARNAUT, Minister Assistant to the Prime Minister of Portugal, said that human resources, more than technological resources, were the most important assets to face the challenges and opportunities standing before the international community. Portugal wanted the information society to be based on an informed, participative and demanding citizenship, served by a transparent, light and efficient administration and by a dynamic and competitive market. The Portuguese Government had institutionalized a transversal approach for the development of the government policy for the information society. A Unit Mission with exclusive responsibilities of coordinating the implementation of this policy had been created. In addition, five strategic documents containing guidelines for policies in this area until 2006 had been created."

John Patrick on Weblogs

Expert Voice: John Patrick on Weblogs: "(...) businesses are going to be affected by this new Internet medium. Indeed, at some corporations, blogs are already being created and shared, many under the radar of top corporate managers. Their promise, says Patrick: to tap into expertise among far-flung locations and enable information-sharing with partners, suppliers and customers about everything from business problems to new-product musings. 'Knowledge management wasn't overhyped,' says Patrick, in an interview with CIO Insight Executive Editor Marcia Stepanek. 'It was underdelivered. Blogs can potentially deliver the grassroots discussions and knowledge-sharing that top-down, corporate-sponsored efforts never could.' "

theSpoke - Microsoft goes Blogging

O PedroF, sempre atento a estas questões, acaba de descobrir mais uma das utilizações possiveis para Blogs: A Microsoft disponibilizou sem grandes alaridos, um serviço de Web Logging destinado a "tech-savvy people in their teens and 20s" theSpoke: "You’ve clicked on a feature that is only available to members of theSpoke. Every member of theSpoke gets space for a personal web log, an online blog reader, and the tools to start blogging immediately. We’re even working on a mobile blogging application. Members of theSpoke can also post to discussion boards and comment on other blogs." Como diria o CF&A, «Pois é...!» Parece que as organizações não estão a dormir (algumas já avaliaram o potencial desta ferramenta).
