O papel dos Weblogs na formação de comunidades em linha

Asyikin, Nurul. (2003) Lessons in Community Building: An Inquiry into the role of weblogs in online community building (http://www.knowledgeboard.com/cgi-bin/item.cgi?id=101440) -

"This thesis will attempt to examine the impact of technical and design factors on the concept of virtual community by examining the role of weblogs in online community-building. The recent publication of three new books - We've Got Blog, We Blog: Publishing Online with Weblogs and The Weblog Handbook - adds to the steadily-growing body of literature which attempts to explain the popularity of weblogs and the social implications of the 'weblog community' (Cashel, 2001).

Given the vast differences between conventional forms of virtual communities, such as MUDs, and weblogs, it is surprising that the idea of weblog communities as been accepted by so many people and with so little resistance. Thus, the existence of weblog communities should be investigated, if only to uncover how and why the weblog can support the activities normally associated with online communities."
